Gen6 95 celica sitting for a year

Hi all just would appreciate a general briefing on the 95 celica.

Its been sitting for a year and has a rebuilt engine and i may buy it from this women for 1000 but what issues may i face?

Before buying, I plan on doing the oil , tranny and firing up the battery along with a compression check.

Any advice on what to check would be lovely...

Fuel will be old and may be some moisture in there. Top up with fresh gas and/or drain it all out.

I am also fixing a car that has been sitting for 6 years and my celica was in my garage for a couple years with no real problems.

The 6 year sitter developed antifreeze problems and is leaking a couple places, but mainly it ate through the paper thermostat gasket, leading me to believe that the antifreeze is the most corrosive fluid besides the battery acid. The oil was beautiful with no leaks on the 6.

My point is check rubber/paper parts that hold or carry the antifreeze.

Also check the body for rust. Behind and under the mud flaps can be a bad place.

All good advice, really covers everything in terms of motor. Check brakes, clutch pressure as well. Make sure the master/slave cylinders aren't leaking.

That being said.... my current car sat for 2 years. I put the few things that still weren't connected from previous owner. (dizzy, battery) didn't check any fluids and started that bitch right up. 2 year old gas, oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, ps fluid, everything. Didn't skip a beat.
