Hello...

I am currently in the market for a 4th gen Celica. I am going to go look at an 87 GT-S tomorrow and was wondering... what differences are there from the 87 to the 88/89s? I'm more interested in the cosmetic changes between years if there are any. Are the later 88/89s "nicer" than the 86/87s??

The 86-87 are known as pre-facelift; 88-89 are facelift models which have the updated grill with redesigned front corner and taillights. The interior was also freshened up a bit but most parts are still interchangeable.

The 88-89 also had redesigned:
heater control panel
vertical rear wiper and rear shoulder seat belts (89 only)
repositioned o2 sensor
new rims

If the 88-89s are nicer or not is simply opinion. You'll find the 4th gen community is split over this. I prefer the 88-89, looks cleaner and more modern.
