01 GT wont start

I got a friends 01 Celica GT sitting in my driveway....It will not start....The engine will turn over fine but will not crank.....The first thing I noticed was that I could not hear the fuel pump running with the rear seat removed....I pulled the white connector off the pump and it is recieving around 5-7 volts so I am assuming its getting enough power....Is there anything else I should check...It seems very odd that a fairly new fuel pump would be dead already.....TIA

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the fuel pump? When I tested the leeds on the white connector it read 5-7 volts, that seemed a little low.......which wires power the pump itself....when I turn on the ignition power it will not run.....

There is a repair manual and wiring diagram for your car in that link.
Check the ignition troubleshooting section. You can also disconnect the fuel filter and see if fuel pumps out when you crank it, but I think you are supposed to check the fuel rail near the injectors for fuel if you suspect that is what the problem is. Then check for spark at each plug. Disconnect the plug wire and unscrew the plug, then connect the plug to the wire and crank to check for spark. Could be something in the ignition. Sounds like the starter cranks but does the crankshaft turn, could be timing belt, got spark. Check for spark and fuel is usually a good start.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the info......The main problem was that I could not hear the fuel pump run when starting the car, I used a stethascope......I removed the pump and very quickly jumped 12V to it and nothing......I found some good info on the pump harness and also tested it for power since I was already there, it checked out OK.....Looks like I will be buying a new pump......I wonder since the car has not been started in over a year the pump could have seized up? I'll keep this thread updated as soon as I install the new pump....
