Australia Excessive fuel/gas consumption

Hi there,

I have a 1990 ST184 Celica coupe that has suddenly developed a excessive fuel consumption problem. I went from 600km per tank to 380km per tank. I have replace the spark plugs and leads, Air filter and oxygen sensor. I have checked and adjusted the ignition timing. The questions I have are as follow:

1. Would a faulty coolant temp sensor (Not the gauge sensor) be the problem & if so how do you test it.
2. Fuel injector rail pressure regulator be at fault
3. Faulty injectors (I don't think this is the problem - I have never seen all four injectors fail at the same time)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Jughead

First I thought was maybe because your Celica is on the Bottom of the Globe all the fluids are leaking out when you sleep.

My second thought is maybe a vacuum hose has sprung a leak, they should all be replaced {quite cheap}.

Keep er Rollin.

I think you misspelled Australia on your sign in tab.

yer it could be a fuel leak.
can you smell petrol or have you noticed if you fill up one day and the next morning the fuel gauge is a lot less then the last time you drove the car?
or has moved since the night before?

as cjcride has said check your vacuum hose.

post the fuel hose on engine compartment. mine had gotten a tear in it and was leaking a good amount and replacing it made a huge difference. i have a nitrous setup tho and my stainless steel braided hose had been rubbing against somethin which caused the hole so might check there
