Suspension

Hello all, just bought a '93 gts with a 2.2L and AT. It needs struts and I would like to find something in a mid-range area if there is such a thing. 80% of my driving will be on the highway to and from work. I live in Mass and the other 20% of my driving at this time is avoiding pot holes. I am riding on some WANLI S-1088 17" low profiles. Appreciate any help I can get because low profiles are new to me. Thanx in advance.

Tokico blues. They're plug & play, retain ride quality, and better handling.

Tokico does not make ANY plug and play shock for the 90-93 celica application.

If you're looking for drop in, really the best you're going to find is the KYB GR2s.

You should get some Koni Yellow Strut cartridge inserts, they're adjustable for stiffness level.

The Tire Rack has a special on them right now.

Problem being that Tire Rack only carries the fronts, because there isn't a rear made specifically for the car. Yes, you CAN modify to fit, but in the end, you're still paying almost $800 for struts alone after shipping.... which doesn't mesh well with the OP's request for "midrange" struts.

It sounds like he's just trying to replace blown struts that will hold up a little better than stock.

Your call.

I've always been a fan of the Monroe Sensa-Tracs. They are quite affordable, offer excellent handling and come with a great warranty. You can buy them from almost anyone as well. The hotter they get, the better they handle. I personally don't think blowing $800 for potholes fits in my budget. And I've driven in Mass, thats a lot like driving in Cincinnati in the spring.

the kyb gr2's are pretty good and reliable you wont be able to find anything but the cartridge for the front i would sugest dooing all the bushings and links also and the strut mounts

none of theise parts are too expensive
you will notice the diffrence
if your going to do it yourself be careful of the break lines (or replace them)
your in mass...RUST the links are prolly froze to the sway bar and the break lines are prolly froze into the strut (keep them in mind)

(it took me 30 min to figure out the spring compressor lol)

good luck!!!
