1990 celica with 150000k on it

hey, whats up, my name is mike. i recently had a 1995 dodge neon (www.cardomain.com/id/mhz2010) that blew a timing belt 3, yes, THREE days after i started driving it. now, one of my friends dads is considering selling me his 1990 celica st coupe with 150000 miles on it. i need to know what would be the major problems with this car. many of the celicas of this year i have seen have had an engine rebuild or a new engine put in. i have also heard that one of the more prevalent problems is the intake hose... if any of you guys have any advice, let me know what to look for in this car, im a student and don't have tons of money, and having the neon seize its engine was a killer... thanks alot guys and girls...

mike

btw, its a one owner car, which is great in itself...

As long as he kept up the maintence then it'll run for a while still. Keep in mind though, when you put stress on somthing mechanical, it drastically shortens its life, so dropping the clutch at 4000 often will probably be bad news. The ST was the lowest trim model. If you do a search in this forum, you'll learn more about it. Good luck, and sorry to hear about the Neon.

It sounds like it will last for a while.
Keep in mind that this is the first year for that model.
Things do go wrong with the first year cars.
These cars do burn oil when you least expect it.
Make sure you don't run out of oil.
Long trips seem to burn a quart of oil. (100 miles)
However short trips I have zero oil burn.
