Gen5 90' GT Hatchback for under $400!

I thought I would share my ridiculous new purchase...

White 1990 GT Hatchback 5spd w/ 127k original miles!

PRO:
Clearcoat intact
Tires hold air
All powered options work
Newer clutch
New battery
New fuel pump
New alternator
Straight pipe exhaust
Cold A/C
Working Sunroof
Clear title!

CON:
Fred Flinstone style floor courtesy of rust
Rust raped rear quarter panel
Strange hardlines in engine bay
Rust raped lift points
Interior smells like crotch
Cracked windshield
Exposed tire radials!
Painted tail lights
Stolen radio

It took a $30 timing belt to get this baby running. The cams are FILTHY. They sold it because they couldn't afford to replace the butchered timing belt. Every tooth was stripped and shredded making for a fun clean up. It just need a belt, some used oil and antifreeze. ECU reset, temp sensors work and she idles normal. Sounds ridiculous with the straight pipe exhaust.

We were up late working on the interior and pissed off our bitch neighbor. She retaliated by trying to annoy us at 8:30am on Sunday with a weed wacker. The joke was on her when I pulled out of the garage and idled in the driveway for a half hour.

The rocker panels are completely rotted away and the driver side floor has access to the road below. Its gonna get a healthy dosage of rust grinding and priming before we get a sheet riveted in. The lift points are gonna require some heavier welding. Fiberglass should finish out the other holes. We also stripped the carpet out and scrubbed the hell out of it. Foaming carpet cleaner, goo-gone and lysol worked well.

I'll have some pics posted in the next week or so when I go back up to finish working out the oddities. They masked the tailights to look like polkadots and replaced evap lines from the fuel tank and left the old ones. This rust is gonna be a bitch, but it is still the best $380 I ever spent.

Holy crap, as much as I hate rust (I'd rather take mechanical than body work) I have to admit that's a good deal...with such low mileage. Not a bad way to spend pocket change!

Post those pics when you can...
