87 Celica GT question

I just came across and purchased an 87 Celica GT.

Was wondering if they make a turbo kit for this car,

How strong is the motor in this car?

Thanks guys, my first Toyota

I suggest finding a 3S-GTE engine to drop into it. It was the factory turboed engine. However, if you have the 2.0L 3S-FE you could possibly find the engine's G head (wider angle valves for performance), you would make it a 3S-GE, and then you could bolt on a turbo setup (maybe even a stock one) to make it into a 3S-GTE. Have fun. BTW, if the engine is a 1.6L, it's a 4A-GE, if it's a 1.8L, it's a 4S-Fi. The 2S-FE was only in the '86 model, so I'm doubting you have that.

i thought that gen. only had 3s-fe and 3s-ge? 3s-gte drop would be the easiest for sure. most of toyotas motors that didnt come with a turbo will crater when you put one on(somewhere about 20/25% more power than stock)

I believe It's the 3SFE engine. Now if this was an 87 celica made, for example in December of 87, would it have the 3SGE motor?
