2000 gt, accelertion problem...

my wifes 2000 gt has a huge problem accelerating, i'm sure it's a vacuum leak, but i can't locate it. I can hear a whistle when i'm on quarter pedal, about 1800 to 2300 rpm, and if i floor the pedal the whole motor just boggs down and the car creeps like you were just rolling on idle... anyone have a similar problem... if so what's the fix?

Not 100% sure, but my friend had a 97 Eclipse, and it was doing that, he was giving it a lot of gas but it was just creeping. His problem was the transmission, he got it rebuilt. Hope that's not your problem though, my 2000 gt uses oil

I am by no means an expert so take this information for what it's worth. My friend had a similar issue and it ended up being something to do with the timing? Someone who knows more than me could probably elaborate. Maybe something to look into though who knows. Good luck man!

try cleaning the MAF, its fast and easy to do. my new to me GTS's maf was totally covered in dirt due to one clip on the air box not being secured for a long period of time. cleaned it and now its much much better. my issue was a hesitation when you punched the gas, shit gas mileage, and a lack of power. I also changed the plugs at the same time, 83K miles and they were the originals and nearly welded into the head.

once that was done its all good.
