Driveshafts: st work on gt?

i have a 90 celica gt and my driveshaft is clicking and making horiffic noises especially on bumps and/or under accelleration. anyway, i found a cheap remanufactured shaft, BUT it is listed for a celica st..... i know the st came with both engines, but are the shafts the same? need to know pronto, cant find this info on the internet ANYWHERE!!!!!!!

that should be a no. I checked part numbers and they came up different. sorry bud.

also, you may want to swap that CV shaft out quickly, without the grease, they can wear down very quickly and fall apart so avoid driving on it and if you have to, be gentle.

ya i agree, but the boots arent even torn, weirdest thing...... so theh 7afe and 5sfe must have different designs

oddly enough after posting, two days ago I found the cv boot to be ripped and devoid of grease so I had to replace that. if I remember correctly the 4afe have the joints athe very ends and the passenger side 5sfe one had the transaxle side joint more in the middle followed by a carrier bearing that kept the shaft into the transaxle straight. Also, but have different transmissions so the splines would more than likely be different as well.

best bet for checking things like this is use an autoparts store that allows you to see part numbers like advance and compare the numbers.
