Unhappy celica progress

well...i started off on the swap of engines to fix the broken crank pulley. after i got both engines out of their cars, i found out my swap motor is trash. i really think it would be a miriacle if it would even run. no big deal i thought. got a file and an easy out, ill just pull out the broken bolt from the crank...

wrong.

in trying to remove the broken bolt from my crank. the easy out snapped off in the bolt. i cant back it back out, and you cant drill those either. so now, i got to replace the entire crankshaft on the engine. this is turning into quite a headache. all of this happened as i finished prepping everything for the conversion to manual. i have all the wires figured out, still got to mount the clutch pedal and lines, and the shifter cables. nothing too bad considering how far i came today. sucks this happened, but maybe its a sign i need to take deeps idea for a 5s/3s monster. and maybe mate it up with a 3s-ge tranny too.

with all this said, anyone wanna donate to the johnathan needs a new crank fund? paypal- cinder_cone32@yahoo.com
IM me if you want to mail it

ill get some pictures up tomorrow

A soft stone and a 28,000 rpm tool, just touch the stone to the easy out. It will melt like butter on a hot knife. Wear safety goggles!

I hate it when a simple thing turns into a headache.

yeah, me too. fortunately the wife was really understanding about it. im gonna get everything tomorrow to fix the engine, so i gotta really hump it for the next few days to get everything in and right. i figured out the park/reverse switch, but there is one more thing on the auto tranny. i think its the lock up solenoid. im just gonna take it out of the tranny and hook it up and out of the way.

i really dont feel like changing the crank, but this is gonna be the only way. such a simple thing. lol and the freaking bearings for the bottom end are expensive as shit. wtf is that all about??? wish me luck, im gonna need it the next 2 days

This is why you don't convert cars from automatic to manual.

well it started out by taking all the hoses off and breaking a few of the sensors they were connected too and one of the sensors was at the bottom of my engine.....and i didnt exactly know where some of the lines ran too sooo and i am leaking a lil oil from somewhere and i cant figure out where...so i was just like f*** it i am just going to fix every lil thing that i dont like about my car and now here i am....got the head back on...camshafts in and now i am messing with the timing belt and tension spring

yeah, im back from vegas now. i gotta rent a cherry picker again and install the new engine tranny combo into the car. yay for manual. i got the reverse park neutral switch figured out, there is still one thing there that i dont know. i think its the lock up solenoid. no big deal.

i think i might have some direction on where this project is going too. im thinking a 5s bottom and im debating on a GE head. at some point im gonna turbo that too . im gonna start looking for engines pretty soon. even if i use the FE head that is really unique for this area.

An F head has the valves in the combustion chamber at 22 degrees and a G head has them at 45 degrees. You should be able to use the stock pistons though since the stock 3sge pistons and the stock 3sfe and 5sfe pistons are almost excatly the same(only the U.S. 3sge ones are the same).
