92 Celica GTS hard to start

Having problem starting 92 celica gts, have to crank it several times before it will start.I tried leaving the ignition on for several seconds before cranking and that seemed to work. I was wondering if the fuel injectors is the problem or maybe the fuel pump. How hard is it to change the injectors? Any help is appreciated.

yeah I have already changed the filter. I have the valve cover off to change the gasket and I see the injectors but it looks like I would have to remove the whole fuel rail assy.to r&r the injectors and that does not look easy. Car has 182,000 miles

Could be the pump, fuel pressure regulator, dirty injectors or cold start injector.

When the fuel pressure reg goes out does that cause rich or lean conditions? Can it fail both ways?

Did this problem suddenly appear, or has it gradually gotten to the state where it is now?

The 92 5S-FE does not have a cold start injection system, by-the-way.

You might want to check cylinder compression pressures to get started on a process of identifying the source of the problem. There are so many possibilities at this point, but starting at compression values is usually the right place to begin.
