VVT-i oil burning

Just curious if anyone else has had this problem...I have a 2001 toyota Celica GT and when i first got it i drove it hard but after the last oil change i was taking it easy... than today after not even 2500km my engine oil was at nothing...and we checked the engine at the garage and there are no leaks...so I decided to throw synthetic in it now to see if that helps...man I am glad I put slick 50 in with the last oil change...I had 5w30 oil in it too and the engine only has 77000km on it...Any info would be a great help...

Yea

My friend owned a brand new camry and the oil dissappeared
he is dumb, and ignored the oil light and the engine seized. In the end toyota barely belived him however they did pay for 75% of the bill
