2002 celica brake problem

I have a problem with my 2002 celica. My brake pedal goes all the way down and i changed the master cylinder and also the brake booster but it still goes down. I bled the master cylinder twice but it still goes down. Anyone know what could be wrong with it?

Try this - with the car off, pump up the brakes and then stand on the pedal. The pedal should not sink down to the floor or feel spongy. Start the car, with your foot on the brake pedal - it will sink down a bit, but still hold pressure. If it doesn't - the new master cylinder is faulty or installed wrong, or there is still quite a bit of air in the lines.

Remember, you have to bleed the master cylinder as well as all the wheels to be sure there is no air. Bleed the MC, then start with the furthest brake from the MC, and work your way closer. Use only DOT3 or DOT4 fluids - they have the best compatibilty with the system.

or booster is messed up too still, our shop got 3 faulty boosters in a row once. Took 3 weeks to fix this guys car cuz they kept sending us shit... this was from NAPA i think too.

So ya spongy pedal is caused bacially by boosters, air in the lines, or stuff is connected wrong.

Master cylinder won't really be the main cause of spongy pedal though if that was defective your pedal would go down fine just the brakes wouldn't work.

spongy pedal when car off won't give spongy pedal, it would feel normal for a car off. car on a bad booster would just not give boost or create a large vacuum leak and cause engine problems or a hard pedal.

Does your car have ABS? You never mentioned it. If so, it is possible you will need to take you vehicle to the dealership to bleed the system.
