Gen5 Help a newb with a quick rim question!!

So I have a chance to buy a set of 17'' Konig Monsoon rims. They are the 5x114.3/5x100 bolt pattern with a +40 offset and are 17x8in wide. They also come with 12x1.25 pitch tuner lug nuts. All 4 with tires for $150 rims are in great shape. Can I make these rims work? are they to wide, to much or little offset? Ive only had my celica for 2months so I dont know much bout this game. All advice is good advice right now!

the lugs iirc wont work but thats just little issues. the studs should be 12x1.5. uhh the wheels probably will work but will need spacers in the back, more than likely. check around celica tech, there are several threads over there discussing wheel sizes.

Well I just tried over there and apparently their site is down. So the spacers would help with clearance issues so they didnt rub on the inside of the fenders im guessing? Im new to the import game, spend my time off roading mostly with the jeep so I assuming it along the same lines as what we use them for.

I dont know what size spacers you would probably need but with wheels that wide and a relatively high offset, theres a good shot of rubbing the strut in the back. depending on how big of spacers you get, it'd be a good idea to get longer studs so the lugs have more bite. the spacers are to bring the wheel away from the suspension not away from the fender. ultimately, it looks like your best bet would be to test fit them. celicatech is back up but its unlikely you'll find your exact case. also tire sizes matter when it comes to this.

well I picked them up...$200 for the set so I thought why not, can always re-sold out here. The tires that came with them are 245 45 R17...alot bigger than my 195 60 R14. I am going out now to try at test fit them. I know i will need new tires. Now for the spacers. I have seen two kinds. First the hub centric kind with actual studs on them and then an actual spacer...just a peice of metal. which is the best kind for this application?

yeah with tires that large you may want to go with some lower profiles. if you dont need too much to clear(I dont know for sure if you do) then the flat ones without the studs should be fine. I've never looked into wheels that large for either of my toyotas, but I know from my corolla, just stepping up to 15s with a higher offset they rubbed the strut. I'm not much of a fan of wheels that large, I'd go with 15s or maybe 16s first, but good luck
