Lightbulb Help! Auto Tranny problem

Hi, I am new to here
the reason I got here, coz I have been searchin' for many sites to fix this problem, however, none of them got the exactly solution to solve it. . . and I hope some of u guys may know

I have a 90 Celica GT-S
since Nov, 2003, my Auto tranny started to have some problem
sometimes, it had a really tough time to shift from the 1st gear to 2nd gear. . . it's like goin' very slow. . . and the rpm will keep around 3k for a while. . . since it is keepin' around 3k rpm, it won't shift into 2nd gear. . .

and sometimes, when this happen, my O/D will flash. . . but it's happen like for a few mins. . . then everything will turn back to normal . . .it's weird. . .

so, I went to Toyota dealership in here, and they said. . . they can't fix it. . . coz they dunno what's happening. . . however, they ask me to get in whenever the O/D is flashing again. . .
well, but everytime the O/D is flashing. . . it's like keepin' flashing for a few mins. . . I dun have enough time and speed to get into Toyota dealership. . .

so this problem has been keepin' to happen on my car for a couple months. . . I just wonderin' if any of u guys got the same problem too?? if so, what's it about?? if not, what do u guys think?? the dealership said it might be the problem of the shifting motor, but they said they dun wanna me to waste money on it until I got the code from the engine (O/D flashing)

I was thinkin' will that be a problem of the temp here??
it's real cold during the winter. . .
coz when I didn't warm up the car, the problem will comes up directly. . .

also, will that be a problem with the MAP SENSOR?? coz the last thing I changed b4 the problem came up was the MAP SENSOR. . . and I am not usin' a TOYOTA MAP SENSOR. . .

and tonite, I found out that the way to ignore the problem is whenever it happens. . . I shift it into L in the first gear. . . and it will be fine. . .

needs reply. . . and thx for reading it

nice to meet u guys. . .

I could be wrong, but it sounds as though either your torque converter is slipping, or you have very low fluid pressure in your tranny. I do a little R & R work for a friend in the transmission business on the weekends, and had that very same problem myself with a 95 Probe I used to own. You see, if your torque converter clutch is begining to loosen, fluid in the transaxle does not circulate well, and the tranny begins to overheat, hence your o/d light bgins to flash, and should set a failure code. Another symptom is poor fuel mileage, and sometimes a fuel odor.

well, personally, I dunno anything about the auto tranny. . .
yr idea sounds correct. . . however, if I told the Toyota dealership about this. . . they would just reply me the same thing :
"come in with yr flashin' O/D, if not, we can't help"

thx for yr reply

EDIT: went to change my rims' bolts this morning
and the manager of the tire shop asked me if I got any problems with this car. . . and I told him everything
and he checked the tranny fluid for me. . . which is almost out of fluid. . . and he added for me. . . it feels great now. . . but I need time to see if this is the problem that annoy me a lot
