Sporadic cruise control on my '90 GT 5 speed

I did a search, but found nothing to specifically help me.

The cruise control on my GT works only occasionally.
When I bought the car, the previous owner told me it doesn't work, but the other day I was on the NJ turnpike and it started working.
Unfortunately, the next day it stopped working.
But after an hour it briefly started working again.

Anybody else have similar issues?
And if so, what have you done or replaced to remedy the problem?

The vacuum hose on the actuator is good.
The light goes on on the dash when I hit the cruise button and does NOT blink.
My brake light on the dash is also not on, so that can't be the problem.

I'm leaning towards replacing the speed control box behind the radio, but perhaps it's the vacuum actuator under the hood, or even the switch itself on the steering wheel?

I miss the good 'ole reliable cruise control my '88 Camry had.

Thank you for your time!

Could be the clutch switch under the pedal, does it possibly start without your foot on the clutch?
Could be another sensor for the clutch. I know on my car if I even hover over the clutch with my foot, the cruise stops working. I believe it should be set to .5mm depression on the clutch pedal and the cruise should go off. Not sure where this sensor is located though, but if it is a little out of spec this could be your problem. Check the manual.

Ill check when I go to work in the morning if it's the clutch switch, but I think it's good.
I thought the switch is the only interaction that the clutch has with the cruise, didn't realize there is another sensor that comes into play.
