Engine Swap Advice...

need everyone's advice on this...i'm looking to put a 2ZZGE into my 93 Corolla. i got an offer in my e-mail for everything to do the swap for $3000 delivered. i could also get a 00 Celica GTS thats wrecked in the front, but it doesn't look like i'd be able to use much out of it. my question is, is $3000 a far price, or could i find something lower somewhere else? any help would be great.
thanks
-jim

It's kind of hard to say since you haven't told us the condition of the engine....and another question is:

are you sure you want to spend that money to change the engine in the "corolla"??

I wouldn't knock Corollas, there's a few evil ones running around.

3000 for a 2zzge is a great price. My dad is a parts manager at a Toyota dealership and that place has had to put a few 2zzge motors in some Celica GTS( I did one of them). To get a new long block from Toyota costs him 10K dollars so a customer would probably pay about 11K. They just did a celica GTS and put in a used motor and the used motor cost 6K so you are getting a good deal for that I would do it.

Personally I'd go for the 4AGZE.
1. It fits.
2. no massive modifications.
3. Near same HP, and easier to add boost to a boosted engine.
4. It fits, I know I said this already, but it's worth saying twice.
On the 2ZZ the intake is in front and exhaust is in rear, where's the shifter hookup at? I first wanted to do that swap on my car, but after some serious chat and looking at it I decided it was more than I had funds for, and cheaper horsepower was available. I still didn't go cheap though. I'm installing a 3SGTE in a 93 Tercel. Just notched the frame yesterday and now I'm looking for a celica transmission....
