3s gte engine/tranny swap

i got a 1990 celica FWD i want to swap the engine and trans. to a 3S-GTE i was wondering if the transmission for the MR2 3S-GTE will work with this car?

What kind of engine do u have now? If you have a 2 litre, you could use your own tranny. If not, the mr2 turbo would be the best.

i have the 2.2l engine. i was gonna buy the 3s-GTE complete swap but the one for the celica comes with the AWD tranny so if i get the MR2 engine and tranny will that work?

It will work, but the one u have on the 5S-FE will work aswell

yeah the s53 transmission that comes with it should be ok but if yours is like mine(with 152000 miles and worn synchros) I can understand wanting to swap trannys as well. the linkage connection on the transmission IIRC has to be flipped since its oriented oppositely in the mr2. plus some come with an LSD

edit: I dont remember if the mr2 tranny with the LSD has the same axles or not, you may want to look into that but otherwise you should be ok.
