should be pretty close. thats from the 6th gen bgb but should be very close for the 5th gen, they may even have the bgb for that too.

what are you replacing it with?

In most places, its illegal to remove airbag from a vehicle. You'll need to get a steering wheel with a functional airbag.

having been in a bad accident I would recommend keeping an airbag. My ae92 didn't have one and the only reason I didn't hit the steering wheel is I'm lanky and was far back from the wheel. I'm not sure if its a direct fit but maybe the wheel out of a later gen celica or mr2?

edit: found this

http://www.celicatech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39642

but the airbag will not work.

can a gts 7th gen work? because i dont like how the steering wheel is, its not sporty at all, you see similar steering wheels in a 8th gen corolla and a 2nd gen lexus es 300...

it'll probably go on, but the airbag systems are different so the airbag will NOT work

my '90 has an airbag.
I think that toyota was the only car company that did the early airbag steering wheels the right way. Early Acuras and Hondas had tiny horn buttons back then, so did ford vehicles.... in fact, most every company couldn't figure out how to incorporate the horn into the airbag like Toyota did. Yet another reason why I love toyota.... that and the fact that 99.9% of the engines are NON-interference!!!
I say stick with the original if you can, the 7th gens do fit, but the wiring for the airbag is different. Ive heard of someone re-wiring the later model airbag, but I would most certainly NOT recommend it!!!
