Search around you can find some thorough answers but anyway

Any A series blocks will swap right in using the mounts you have (7AFE, 4AGE (16 and 20 valve), 4AGZE )

You can put a 3sgte in, but one mount will have to get moved, the mount on the pass. side strut tower has to get moved. Also a 3sgte will not bolt to your transmission, The S series engines bolt up to S series trannys(s53, s54 etc) or the awd tranny(I cant remember the series name) or the MR2 tranny. while the A series engines use C series transmissions.

of course depending on the engine the wiring will vary in difficulty.

well you'll see reports of the power a 20 valve can make but also I have heard these figures are skewed. I know you can get a silvertop relatively well priced and that would give a nice increase. for most power it'll cost a lot, for a stock engine the 3sgte will provide the most but does have some issues like lag and you'd have to probably find a good transmission to go with it . I'd say go either 3sgte and upgrade or a 4agze if you can get ahold of one and if you want even more power then switch from the supercharger to a turbo. Thats of course if you're looking for just the most power, thats what I would think of.

I highly suggest doing a lot of research before jumping into this unless you'll end up in way over your head, there are several celica forums, 6gc and celicatech which have plenty of guys who have swapped and have specifics on it.

Gen5

k thx for all the info man!!! For right now im just trying to get an engine i can put in and just drive the car but here in a couple months after i do get an engine i hope to upgrade it so for now after i put an engine in it will just be for driving around untill i can get the money to put some hp in it. But ya ive deffinately been looking into everything u have suggested. So far u are right the 4age is affordable. Question on that 3sgte, so if i did get a new transmission and everything would i have to put altrac in or will i still be able to keep it fwd cause i know if i had to put an altrac in that would be really spendy.

well alltrac is a model of celica that is awd with a 3sgte and largely a different chassis altogether. Unless you weld in a new floor plan or do some very expensive (which ends up being sketchy 99% of the time) you'll have to keep it fwd. remember that since its an S series block it will bolt up to any transmissions that came with a car with an S series in it (meaning like a 5sfe in camrys or celicas in the states, 3sfe 3sge and so on.) your best bet would be getting a S54 tranny from a 6th gen celica (camrys might've had them as well, I dont remember) because it is newer(hopefully less miles) and has upgraded synchros. Watch the older S53s, I have one in my celica and the 2nd and 3rd gear synchro is going out, it only has a bandaid fix on it right now (I'm actually using GM synchromesh trans fluid in it and it seriously helped the grind surprisingly)

ive been looking into the 4age silver top and ive done quit a bit of research on it and im really hoping i can find one in my area. Hopefully it will come with the ecu and stuff cause that will be pretty costly if it doesn't... I was also thinking about keeping my 4afe but i would have to get a new one cause i through a rod but i just don't won't i would do with it and it would probably end up being a complete waste of time..

yeah make sure to get it with the ecu and uncut wiring harness. The only problems with them is finding replacement parts since that engine was never sold inside the US. Check through japanese engine importers, that would probably be your best bet. Eage8 over in the corolla section just picked up a silvertop with tranny and ecu for approx. $900 through JEI IIRC.
