Transferring the 1ZZ-FE engine from a 98-00 Corolla to 2000 Celica GT possible?

A rod broke in my 2000 Celica GT. It put a hole in the bottom of my engine (1ZZ-FE) so its toast. I need to replace it, but from what I've read all over the corolla takes the exact same engine, Every place I call prices the Celica engine practically double the value of a corollla engine.

Naturally I ask, will the IZZ-FE engine from a corolla go into a Toyota Celica with ease, do the mounting bolts/areas line up perfectly & does every other hookup connect exactly the same way? Basically are there any changes/modifications I'd have to do to make this process work, or would it simply be dropping it in & it will install just like an engine straight out of a celica.

also, in case this info is needed, my celica is a standard transmission.

Hopefully somebody here has some experience with this sort of thing, first hand would be great, but any info on this would be helpful. I'll be checking in here all the time til I find an answer, so I look forward to hearing from fellow celica owners!

Thanks allot

Older Corolla 1ZZ-FE don't have vvti. You'll have to double check and make sure which one you're getting.

varible valve timing vvti. Dont know what the i stands for. If there the same engine it will work just use all the mounting stuff etc from your celica.

get a 03-08 corolla 1zz engine. early 98-02 engine models have oil consumption problem which most likely caused your rod failure(lack of oil)

Non-vvti ecu will not work with vvti engine. Unless you plan to swap ecu and wiring harness.
