easiest job, ran into problems!!

hey guys, im here in northern alberta with my 3SFE celica GT, its a 1987 well my altinator decided to stop working , no big deal i went and got a new one but for some reason when i put the belt on and tightend the belt everything seemd fine. but when i fired it up the belt is slightly loose on one side and super tight on the other. likke wtf lol. i played around with making the belt looser and tighter and nothing worked. i assumed it was the alt maybe faulty desighn. went and got the same one for my car but a different brand , champion. and sure enough something is messed up. theres only two pullys the harmonic balancer and the alt that im dealing with .they seemd to be lined up perfectly and i even tried my other belt because i thought the belt may have been screwd. it just seems to have alot of stress on one side of the belt and the other it has a little play slightly floppy, but when the car is stopped the belt has perfect tention on both sides. im worried about heating up the berring on the altinator. hmm can anyone help me out or else ill be stuck in fort mac forever lol. thanks alot !!!!

Odd, should be even, like you said, on both sides.
Only thing I can think of is that the alternator bracket is binding. I'd try to oil it up. Does the belt and alt have the correct amount of grooves?
