Gen5 92 Celica GT Questions

Okay so i have acouple questions... i bought my 92 celica and i am very new to performance and things.. been around cars my entire life dads a mechanic of 22 + years but both me and him are stumped about Tuners which is what i enjoy. V8's are his deal although i know mostly about them! Anyways!

5SFE 2.2L Motor Whats the best way to go.. turbo charger or super charger or anything at all with this motor?
Prices and anything else you can help me with, i have been researching alot myself Any thanks is appreciated! =\

also my clearcoats coming off, so i want to primer the whole car n get it painted.. what would be the BEST way of going about that?

Links and comments appreciated..

you can turbo charge the 5s motor... dont know about super charge. when i was looking to do it to mine the kit was about $1500 i think, but that was like 5 years ago.. as far as the clear coat issue... no idea other then sanding it down and then priming.

There has always been a lovely debate about what to do with the 2.2. Some people say boost it, some people recommend rebuilding it and keeping it N/A, and some people say swap it. CelicaTech has a lot more resources for helping you make that decision. There are some great how-to's in the N/A section I would recommend. Personally, I am going the route of a swap because I like the sound of "transverse V6".

There is a very nice extensive write up on how to make a 5SGE, I'm definitely tempted.

I thought the 5SGE, or 5SGTE was as common as bigfoot and the lockness monster...

Worth a look though, still requires some drilling and cleaning for water passages. I'd recommend the mods in the N/A forum before I'd do a head switch. I would also do an engine swap before I tried making hybrid power-plants.

well thats going the other way. If you already had a 3sge and swapped the block to a 5s block. There's another for it you already have a 5sfe and want to put a 3sge head on it. It outlines how to use everything, even the original wiring harness. And if you have the right years, no machining required!

I like the idea of a 3sgte swap as well, but this just seems more feasible for me, being it is my DD. I'm going to save any major swaps for something that can afford to be off the road for a while, plus a JNC is just really tempting right now

i would go with the 3s upgrade parts are way more commen and the motor stock is more built for racing then a 5s although combinding the 2 would be very fun, a 2.2 twin cam yota that u could bore out an make bigger, ive always wanted to but never really looked into, been working on the super latley im gonna do an mr2 next, i wanna make it do wheelies, maybe ill try it on that!
