I'm not sure what is the same or different between the Corolla and the Celica. But here is salvage interchangeability information I have gotten from a salvage interchange index. The salvage interchange does not show the Corolla & Celica interchanging.

CELICA 2000-2005 (1.8L), VIN R (5th digit, 1ZZFE eng, GT) Eng assembly

Toyota 1794cc (1.8L).
1ZZ-FE eng.
Fuel injected.
DOHC, 16 valve, w/variable valve timing.
FWD.
Change intake & exhaust & electrical systems as necessary.
Engine wiring harness not included.
CAUTION: Manifolds with an integral catalytic converter must be recertified as per Federal emission laws for resale.

Here is interchangeability just for the block (something must be different with the short block)
CELICA 2000-2005 1ZZFE eng (GT)
MR2 2000-2005 (1ZZFE eng)

The only difference I've noticed has been that Corolla 1ZZ-FE's have a lower redline than the Celica 1ZZ-FE. That difference has more to do with how the ECU is programmed than with the engine itself.
