Another power window thread
Hello everyone, first post!
I recently got a 1998 Celica GT convertible after the tragic loss of my 98 Rav4 (I'll post pics of the new baby tomorrow).
Anyways, when I got it, all four windows worked fine, for about a week to a week and a half. Then the right rear window died, being stuck down. I removed the switch, gutted it and cleaned the contacts with alcohol, let it dry, and checked it with the multimeter. It seemed to function fine. I then checked the fuses, and all were fine.
Shortly after, the left rear, then the right front windows died.
I don't think it's a wiring issue, the two rears have switches on the center console above the gearshift. The right front has a switch on the passenger door and the driver door. Neither switch for the front works, which would imply three seperate simultaneous wiring failures (unless it's upstream from where they all connect).
My plan tomorrow is to check the voltages on the switches, including the driver's side window to see what a working voltage is, and to check the relays with a multimeter, and if those don't pan out, then pop panels to check wires.
Can anyone tell me which relay is the power window one? Is the power window relay really a collection of 4-5 relays in one package (maybe power for the rag top as well)?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Aqua
