USA 1993 Celica GTS

I washed the engine this weekend and now the car won't start. The batterr is charged and the starter is turning. I have left the car sits for about 2 days now and the engine still wont start. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

Check for water in spark plug tubes. Pull the plug cable out to check.

Yes, I checked the spark plugs and there are dry. I was going to check the inside of the distributor cap but I have a hard time to open the distributor cap since I am not one of those mechanical technical person. I need to find the car manual to learn to remove the distributor cap properly.

Buy a Haynes or Chilton's manual (or borrow one from the library), and get that distributor cap off...if there's moisture inside it won't dry out on its own...and you'll be walking everywhere for awhile.

There are 2 bolts holding the cap. Use 8mm socket.

After you crank the engine, pull a plug out and see if you can smell gas.
Also check for spark if you know how to.

Got it. there are two 8 mm bolts which I will remove. Are there anything I need to watch out when i remove the distributor cap?

Thanks for all your assistance.

i got the car started finally without removing the distributor cap. I guess the water evaporated and I was able to start the engine. Now the rpm will go up to 2k rev in 2nd gear then it seems to lost power and the rpm will drop down to around 1k rpm. I need to keep the gas pedal constant to recover the lost rpm. maybe there are still water in the system (spark plugs or somewhere)?

Thanks for everyone's advise today. The car is running fine now. Now I just need a tune up and it should be a fun project car for the weekend.
