4a-ge head into 4a-fe block...is this possible???

I have a 90 celica ST with a stock 4A-FE engine. and my cousin has 4a-ge parts that he is willing to sell to me.

i need to see if the silvertop 4A-GE head would fit on the FE block. i am not sure cuz the head has VVT and its got 20v, while my celica has 16v. so i know extra wiring would be necessary. but I need to see if this can happen...any advice?

yes an no. yes the blocks are the same but IIRC some of it will not match up. this has been touched on a bunch over in the corolla section.

When it comes to wiring think of it like the wiring depends upon the head so yes you will need a wiring harness and ecu. honestly its easier to swap the whole engine before you'd put the head on your block. plus you wouldn't get less performance than a stock silvertop due to lower compression ratios in the 4af than the silvertop.

Although it sounds like a good idea, it would be much easier to swap the whole thing.

Bolt up yes. Valve hit pistons that have wrong angles cut for the angle the new valves are sitting at, maybe. Doesn't the 4age come with a forged crank and 4afe cast? Should we get into rod specs too?
Swap the whole engine.
