Replacing my 2000 Celica Stereo

Greetings folks.

The stock stereo in my 2000 Celica has stopped playing cds, and I'd like to take the opportunity to upgrade. I don't need anything fancy, but a cd-playing stereo with an auxiliary 8mm jack for an ipod is my intention.

My hangup is that I don't know how to choose the replacement - can anyone tell me how to determine which stereos will fit the enclosure in the car, or even suggest a specific replacement?

I'm not unfamiliar with electronics or hardware, but I would prefer to not modify the enclosure itself.

Thanks!

if you played with legos as a kid your ok lol

go to wal mart buy a toyota 1984 and up stero bracket and wireing harness
splice the stereo to the harness (the colored wires match)
save the small steel brackets from the old deck
pick the right trim/bracket for the application
(key) pull the steel sheith off the new stero you dont need it it should slide right off line up the screw holes from the stock bracket to the screw holes in the stereo plug it in bolt it in and go

youl need red butt connectors and a crimp er tool

im kinda rambling so if you didnt get ne of that just ask

you will need a Toyota celica 2000+ dash kit to use a standard single din stereo. Metra and Crutchfield are some companies that make these dash kits to fit the celica. it basically is plastic that fills in the gaps and adds a storage pocket left when taking out the original big radio.. the kit is about $15-30. if you want a double din radio, that will fit also. wiring is pretty easy. just match the 8 speaker wires, and the red, black, yellow wire. some stores like best buy install it for free if you buy a radio from them. they might charge for the dash kit though.
