I'm replacing a water wrecked 94 Camry with a 2001 5-speed Celica tomorrow
I've been showing it off all afternoon on the dealer's website :P Test drove it last night and all seemed well. It has 160k (a bit high, but 1 owner with what I think is a 60-70 mile one way highway commute) and the engine looks decent- no major parts seem to have been replaced and the belts don't seem worn or in need of replacement, so:
What should I expect? I'm gonna see if my uncle can check it out with me in a few days to help me plan the next year of street side / backyard maintenance, but what do people typically see needing done with Celica's this age/mileage?
ADD: Love it! Needs a little TLC in the detailing department, and if it wasn't raining today, it would have been done :P
Smelled like a farm on the ride home so I figure there might be some debris or something in the cabin air ducting. The new cabin filter I dropped in (didn't have one at all :/) may have done the trick because the faint odor seems to have gone, but I also have some odor neutralizer to hit it with when the weather clears.
The only problem I need to get sorted is the fuel gauge is dodgy. On the way home it went from 3/4 tank to gas light on and then back to normal. It did it again later this evening so I hit the gas station and the tank was at half full.
The tech manual I downloaded doesn't have the section on the "Fuel Pump Regulator", and I also found a "Fuel Pressure Sensor" at an online parts dealer- has anyone else had this issue and which part is the likely culprit?
