Convertible ('95) roof slipping - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

the roof on my convertible will slip when I'm trying to put it down or up. I can get it to go down or up if I help it out with my hand, and then it will complete on it's own. I think some rubber wheel or belt part must be dried out like on an old laser printer.

Does anyone know where to get parts for this? And is there any manual for fixing this? (it's not mentioned in the Haynes manual)

There is a supplement to the Toyota Celica manual for convertibles. My scanner isn't working right now, so I can't get you the book. Parts will be difficult to find. ASC(a company in california) made the car a convertible, you may be able to get parts from them. My car was doing the same thing, but I haven't bothered to figure it out just yet, since the engine is currently in pieces.
