Its recommended every 60k miles or so but commonly go past that. luckily the 5SFE and 4AFE are non-interferrence, so if it breaks suddenly, it'll be an inconvenience, but not cause major damage like bent valves and the like.
Issues I've seen be pretty common:
Clunk from a rear suspension lateral arm
Excessive vibration inside from motor mounts
Worn 2nd or 3rd gear synchros
and of course the normal worn gaskets, seals, and mystery noises
