gonna be buying a 95 celica GT, wanna know what engine to swap in it
Hey whats up guys, im from the gen6 camry forum, and im about to buy a 95 celica GT cuz its an amazing looking car, but obv the engine and tranny are pretty shot, so I was wondering what engine to swap into it. What engine would take the least amount of extra mods to swap in (besides another celica again, im looking for something with more power hehe)? Would it be another JZ toyota engine? I was wondering if anyone knew whether the RB26DETT engine would be able to swap in cuz that would be completely amazing...thanks for any advice, i came to you guys here cuz i knew you would know everything about the car!
there is not a JZ engine in there. the JZs are straight 6s found in supras. This is a FWD, 4 cyl. There's no room for a straight 6 + tranny. The engine you have is the 2.2L 5S-FE. Any other S series engine will bolt in but require swapping the wiring harness, ECU, etc. meaning the 3SGE and 3SGTE will go in. Also there's potential to squeeze in a UZ or VZ series V6. but both require much more modification to do so. This is all HIGHLY documented throughout the web
I'd honestly suggest some major research if you thought an RB26 would go in at all

sighh. i know that the JZs are the engines in supras, thats why im asking if they could fit in the celica...i know that people have done the swap before and im asking how hard it is to do because i don't want to put another 4 cylinder engine in the car.
i'd like to get a 6 cylinder in, if the RB26 (btw thats the skyline engine) could fit in, it would be incredible because everyone knows the potential of that engine, but yeah i guess ill have to figure it out all out on my own
I can understand a jz being put in an older generation celica that was still rear wheel drive, to me, that seems a little more feasible. I've even seen pictures of a first gen with one. But unless you do some extensive custom work, and I mean extensive. its not going to happen. Expecially if you were asking which swaps would take less modification
step 1 join 6gc.net its everything 94-99 specific.
step 2 swap in a gen3 3sgte, it came in the 94-99 celica gt-4.
step 3, install boost controller, intake, exhaust
step 4 turn boost up to 18psi
step 5 welcome to 300+whp.
1st. y would u put a nissan engine in a toyota, if u want the rb26 get a 240, 200, exe.
2nd. the jz never had a fwd tranny so u would need a custum bell houseing and a tranz yhat could handle it
P.S. manny ur link for the info on your car no longer works just an fyi

1st of all just dont buy that car let someone else buy it... and no strait 6 in the world is going to fit into a front wheel drive celica if you were going to swap an engine into a celica do what everyone else does and put the 3sgte in it theres even some supra guys who put in a 3sgte and take out there 2jz for the weight differance and still get great power out of it
