Gen5 idling/lag/vacuum problem 90 GT

hey guys well my 90 GT 2.2 5SFE celica hesitates during low revs around 1k to 2,5k but smooths out at 3k with a sudden breakout of power... around 1k to 2,5k it has a bad "lag" or hesitation and it feels like I'm towing a boat... i got the car like this already and last summer the head gasket blew but i got it fixed and got my head serviced too but its still there, someone told me that the timing is off one knotch and so i got that fixed too but its still there...

i saw this on google but i'm doubting the answer..

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_does_y...t_at_high_revs

thank you very much

thats not really unheard of, it could be a plugged cat, one way to tell is pull it off and see if it breathes easier. If it is causing the problem, you'll probably have pieces falling out of it or possibly even almost completely stopping it up. You could replace it, or just take a big screw driver some rust penetrator and gut it. I kinda doubt its that simple with yours though. Have you done anything as far cleaning the injectors and intake? Does it have any kind of misfire to it while it is bogging down? Also you might want to check the egr system, it never hurts to clean the ports while your at it.

k i will check cat, i dont know why the guy who replaced my muffler didnt tell me my cat needs to be changed... nope its not misfiring it just feels like sumthing is pulling the car back out of nowhere, im thinking the electricity that goes to the spark plug isnt enough or cuts out, but when im driving the car it has a similar feeling like the car is shifting gears but its not.. im currently still working on the vacuum system too, the mechanic said that the egr solenoid might be leaking...
