exaust manifold red hot

hey i built a 5s-ge engine and put it into my 5th gen celica gt runs fine is pretty quick but idles at 2100 rpm and after a 5 min drive the exaust manifold gets red hot is this cam timing? my ignition timing seems to be fine i have it set to 0degrees but since its idleing at 2100 rpm im going to assume its at around 10degrees i duno someone may know? engine runs pretty smooth just i want it to be down to around 800 rpm and not have the manifold get super hot pretty much last thing i have to do before i insure it and can go dive around legaly

did you try adjusting the idle? and make sure the throttle body isnt stuck part way open.

most certanly tryed to adjust the idle speed and no the throttle body is fine everything closed no vaccume leaks everything seems to be perfect and the idle wouldent make the exaust manifold glow red hot after a 5 min drive im pretty sure no matter how hard you pushed you car it would take longer than that to get the manifold glowing its only at the bottom on my car but im sure if i drove it for longer the hole thing would be red hot

If its the bottem side of the manifold you might want to check the cat. could be cloged.
and you say you have a 5SGE, now is that a 5SFE with a 3SGE head?

A friend had a similar problem on a completely different engine.
For him it was some grit in the injectors keeping it open.
It was poring tons of fuel into the engine, fue was burning in the exhaust and made his cat glow until the cat died.

yeas it is a 5sfe block with 3sge cylender head and its amazing compared to the 5sfe other than the problym im having and its got new fuel injectors in it and the cat was fine when it was a 5sfe so i dont belive its the cat and the idle is really high 2100 rpm and it dosent seem to want to turn down it would be sweeet if alot more ppl did this conversion its fairly cheep and easy but theres a few little bugs that have to be worked out to get it going good

ps ppl who want to make a 5sge i belive you can only do it with the 1990-1993 5sfe blocks with a 1986-1989 3sge cylender head due to the water passages if theres some other 5sfe blocks out there that work feel free to correct me but yeah very worth while conversion if your looking for power out of your celica or camry without doing the 3sgte swapp cause we all know the fe cyelderhead suckkks and dont anyone tell me there 5sfe powerd toyota has balls cause it dosent there economy engines

You using stock 5S ECU? What year is your car? 90-91 or 92-93? Check ICV it could be stuck open. Or 5S ECU can't control 3S-GE ICV if you're using 3S-GE intake manifold and throttle body.

i have a 1990, i belive the 5sfe ecu can controll the ICV all sensors and jazz have all been taken off the 5sfe cylender head and adapted to the 3sge cylender head maybe i mixed up the 5sfe icv with the 3sge one tho that would suck... TUTORIAL: How to 5s-ge his works just fine im jelous does anyone on here know if the gen 1 or 2 (3sgte) cam gears well fit on the gen 1 (3sge) cylender head cause all i seem to be able to find for adjustable cam gears is 3sgte ones but it would be nice to have thos to maybe adjust my exaust and intake cam timing!
