Engine Swap - need help

Hi, I've got a 92 Celica gt. I want to turbo it, but i'm pretty sure my engine is going bad. would it be easier/cheaper to just do an engine swap with an engine thats already turbo'd like a jdm 3sgte 2.0 . I'm not trying to convert to an all trac i would just like to have it turbo'd. If you could please reply with any info that would be great
Thanks a lot!

A 3sgte swap is way easy it is only wiring. Turboing the current engine requires getting all the parts and then getting a computer and tuning it, a swap is probably cheaper/easier you could turbo an n/a for less than a swap but you have to know what you are doing and tune yourself otherwise you will land up spending more especially if you pop the ringlands or something.

Alright thanks. Also i found some of the 3sgte motors on ebay. Would it be a good idea to buy one from a dealer on there. Dont know if you have ever done it or not. but i dont know where to start when it goes to finding one of those motors

Someone will have to chime in here because I know nothing of the e-bay dealers. I've done swaps before into mr2's and done some pretty trick wiring jobs. Just starting to turbo my gen2 3sge on my racecar I've brought the fuel pump, variable fuel pressure regulator, turbo, manifold, dumpipe, external wastegate and a stand alone computer. Still want injectors and a wideband O2. Not all that cheap to do but once I have the tools I can do my other motors as well the standalone and wideband is where it hurts the wallet, there are ways around that but you once again have to know your stuff and I'm tuning for multiple cars so needed a good system. See where the cost adds up? lol

Check out www.jhotimports.com

They should give you a good deal. They sell good engines with everything you'll ever need for a swap. The prices are fair as well. If they don't have it on the website give them a call.

Gen5

I just got a 3SGTE engine from JDM engine Corp on Ebay and looks like they have screwed me... it did not come with the ECU which they told me by email that it did and they have butchered the wiring loom... If I had the choice again I would go to a dealer
