Need help taking off rear caliper

Hi,

I have the rear disc brake conversion from a 98 Celica.

My question is that I can seem to only be able to take off the bolt in the lower part of the caliper as you can see here.

How do I take off the top? There is no bolt. Here is a picture of the back of the caliper. It is the bolt looking thing circled in pink. It is round so I don't think it is meant to be taken off by any tool. This is the first time I've seen a round bolt LOL.

Here again we see that the lower bolt is a bolt and it can be taken off by a 12MM wrench. The top is that round bolt I don't know how to take off!

Here is a closeup of that bolt!

Any ideas?

By the looks of it, it is not meant to come off.
If you only want to change the pads then just swing it up, replace the pads, swing it down again and put the lower bolt back on.

If you want to replace the calliper then remove the bolts that attach the bracket to the axle housing.
I can see one of the bracket bolts next to the offending round bolt.

The top should have a dust boot on it. It sits on a torque pin on the bracket as there is no top bolt. You should be able to just slide it off buy pulling the caliper back. My AE86 has the same setup on all 4 wheels.

Had the same problem on my '86 GT-S when I replaced the rear calipers.

To get the caliper completely off try rotating the caliper all the way up and it should slide off (push it towards the strut).

If that doesn't work (didn't on mine because the slide pin had seized) simply take some pliers or vice grips (vice grips work best) and unscrew that dust cap; it doesnt look like the cap unscrews but it does. Once you have the cap off there will be a bolt inside; should be a 10mm bolt.

Hope this helps; need any more help just ask; I just replaced all 4 calipers, rotors and pads a month ago.
