3sge st162 VALVE adjusting? how to? buy shims where?

Hi, i have a jdm 86' st162 3sge engine.

Its got noisy valve chatter, and so its due for a tune up.

Has anyone got a tutorial on how to? can anyone tell me how to?
Where do i buy shims from? who sells em? autobarn? repco?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I believe the only place that carries the shims are a Toyota dealer. I have chenged a couple of them in my MR2.
You have to measure the valve clearance. Then measure the shickness of the shim. I don't know the valve clearence for the 3sge, but the method is the same for determining what size shim to order to get the proper clearance. Here's the formula:

T..........Thickness of used shim
A..........Measured Valve Clearance
N..........Thickness of New Shim

N = T + (A - optimum specified valve clearnce )

There's a tool made by Toyota to Depress the lifter while still giving you access to the shim.
