1zzfe

OK guys, a little confused here, I read that the 1zzfe has hydro lifters and another place that you set the clearance with the shims like you do a 3sfe, whats the real deal

hmm? The lifters are not hydraulic. They are just inverted " buckets" that sit over the valve, spring and retainer.
The lifters in the MR2 Spyder, which uses the 1zz, are shimless. So if you need to adjust the clearance, you have to measure and replace the lifter with the proper thickness lifter.
I just bought a set of these for my valve train upgrade.
They are 30% lighter and don't have a shim to fly off at high RPM's.
I don't know if all the 1zz's use the same type lifter
If your lifters have shims on them, you have to measure, then replace the shim with a new thickness shim.
