slipping out of gear?

grinding?

yea the rpm shoots up without any real gain of speed. Sometimes it does it but other times it doesn't. Now it isn't gaining most of the time but after you accelerate for a little bit what happens it finally catches and accelerates.

the slipping is probably less when you're in a lower gear, trying to accerate from a higher gear it just slips right?

Your clutch is slipping.

Wow, 2nd time in a week for a 7th gen GTS that a thread was started for this....

That means your clutch is slipping, alot of hard take offs, or letting off the clutch to slow will cause it to wear. The more you let it slide the more it will wear until you have no acc.

Yea I know that my clutch is going out. I need to know how to fix it or what I should do to fix it. Right now I'm in the process of taking the tranny out and looking at the clutch but I have a problem taking the drive shaft out. Does anyone have any idea on how to do that? I can't seem to get it out but I have taken off the c clamp already. and what do you think it can be the fly wheel or the whole clutch?

I haven't worked on a 7th gen, so honestly I can't give advice on removing the CV axles from the transmission. if toyodiy was still up I'd take a look but yeah...

What is it that you are having problems with?

As for the problem, it would be the clutch disk surface being worn, or the pressure plate not supplying the force it should. But, all this should be replaced while in there since it all comes in a clutch kit, and possibly replace the flywheel or have it turned if the surface is uneven. Should probably replace the rear main seal as well while in there.

chances are its is solely the clutch, esp if its stock. had the same thing happen to mine, but the work was done by my wifes brother in law. I would suggest doing what I did, and get a stg 2 kit to replace it with. it will keep it streetable, and improve the overall feel of the car.
