battery problem

Sometimes my car just doesn't start because the battery is completely dead. The battery gets dead even in like 2 hours sometimes.
I try to start the car using the jumper cables but that never works. But it works quickly when I use a Jump Starter.
Is there something wrong with my car's battery or the car itself?
Do I need to buy a new battery? If yes which one should I get?

Thanks for the help

if its draining while not running (meaning no problems while the engine's actually running) sounds like its now a heavy corrosive poisonous paper weight.

Although I'm not sure why using jumper cables hasn't worked but a jump box has. they're practically doign the same thing. maybe improper use of jumper cables?

Sounds like a dead battery.
Can you check the water level in the battery or is it a new, no maintenance type?
Try borrowing a friend's battery for a day and see if it performs better.

A jump box has much more amps than using jumper cables with a second battery.
If your own battery is in bad condition then it will suck up a lot of the power coming from the second battery - leaving only a little to start the car with.

Battery selection is really a matter of your choice, how much you are willing to pay and how long the warranties are on them. Consumer Reports tests automotive batteries a lot, so if you know your size, you could check consumers report and make a selection that is right for you.

After you have your new battery in, have Advance Auto Parts check your entire electrical system with their tester. It's free, and it's a good idea to make sure you don't have any problems with your alternator or a current drain on your system when you car is turned off.

the last consumer reports I saw ranked kirkland and autocraft batteries both at the top.

But, knowing from experience (being the commercial parts pro at an Advance) there are still a fair amount of battery defects that I see, even in the Silvers and Golds. So I suggest the gold just for the warranty, company policy is to just replace the batterys and even the prorating after the free replacement period is still good compared to buying a new battery.

The economys are 1 year free replacement. golds are 3 years with a total of an 84 month warranty.

Regardless of where you go though, Autozone, pepboys, who ever, just try to get one with a decent warranty, with such a high failure rate, its worth it.
