87 celica gt problems!!!

i bought the car, about half the time or more i need to jump the starter to get it started. any ideas on what could be doing that? i replaced the battery, terminals, ignition switch, dizzy cap, plugs, wires, starter, alternator is fine. now i have a problem starting the car at all. when i turn the key the starter clicks, rpm meter bounces up, it seems like it is shorting out. the engine light goes out completely, and the battery and brake light dim. i was told by a guy i trust at AutoZone that it sounds like a bad ground, where? any help is greatly appreciated.

The ground cable on those is pretty simple. It just goes from the battery cable and is grounded right to the top of the transmission, its not more than 2' long with another smaller wire that grounds to the front radiator support. Try cleaning up where it mounts to the tranny, mine was greasy as hell, also when it tries to start, does it just click once, or a bunch of times really fast. If it just clicks once then it might be the solenoid on the starter going bad, check to see that the little wire to the starter is getting 12v when someone has the key in the start position. If it clicks multiple times, then it is probably a grounding/connection issue somewhere, provided the battery still has a full charge.

Hope this helps
