USA Clutch Adjustment????

Hey Guys,
A friend of mine has a 2000 Celica with the 2ZZGE engine and 6-speed. She said the clutch is engaging near the top of the pedal travel, but it IS fully engaging. A mechanic told her it needs a new clutch.....
I suspect a simple clutch linkage adjustment would correct this, since the clutch is not slipping. The car has just over 100K and is not driven hard.
My friend lives about 8 hours away, so I haven't seen it yet. I'm assuming it has a hydraulic clutch???
My question is:
Is there any "adjustment" on the clutch or pedal, so it will engage a bit lower in the pedal travel???
Thanks in advance!!!
Bill

Yes, clutch is hydraulic and can be adjusted "alittle" at the slave.
