Toyotas are unlike hondas, rather they use gear oil, much higher weight oils. I looked back and saw your previous post actually saying what transmission you have, for that its recommended to use 75w90.

I used that for sometime but my third gear has been a little touchy(I have a synchro going on me), so I decided to try GM Sychromesh fluid, surprisingly took a lot of crunch out of the downshift to third. I still double clutch that gear but I dont have to be as exact as before.

i actually stayed up pretty late trying to find anything on what kind of fluid these toyota transmission needs. i'm either going to try those amsoil 75w90 or redline 75w90. going to go grab some later today..i know it's not cheap but i'll give it a try. i'll probably change it once every 15K and take better care of this car then previous ones..

if you ever need to find out, you can use amsoil's website, they list the weights needed and capacities for most vehicles.

Honestly, every 15k is probably a little excessive.

i dont really know much about cars especially when it comes to transmission oil so i thought maybe 15-20k would be around right.. but who knows... i could get lazy down the road and drive it for 30k like i did before..

actually it's not the same stuff. i had second thoughts when i went out to buy it this morning and then 3hours later i decided to call RedLine myself and ask them what the specific oil was recommended and the tech guy said i should use the MT-90 instead of the 75w90 which it had that grade GL-5 in it..too slippery. I'll take his words for it since he's a RedLine employee
