3sfe number one cylinder

is it on the passenger or driver's side of the engine?
Driver's side, right?

my timing belt cover is missing and I'm trying to put the new timing belt on--and there seems to be no mark for the timing pulley, only the harmonic balancer

The cylinders are numbered 1-2-3-4 with cylinder number 1 beside the timing belt. The ignition order of the cylinders is in the 1-3-4-2 order.

he's right! most honda/acura/toyota/scion/ or 4cylinders are always from left to right.
