2nd Generation Recipie for Horsepower

Ok, TN I have been searching the net and am in need of a formula to achieve 400 hp for my 91 Alltrac. I bought it with a blown head gasket. I have the engine completely torn down. I figure that there is no time like the present to build an Engine and Trans combo capable of 400hp at the crank. I figure that this will be a really fun car with that kind of Power to weight ratio.

So I am looking for the right combination of crank, rods, pistons, Turbo, Injectors and Fuel management. All for $200... Just kidding. No Realistically the budget is in the neighborhood of $3000.

Thanks for any help.....It is greatly appreciated.

I believe the AllTrac comes with the 3sgte?
More air + fuel =more power.
I guess 400hp@ the crank would equate to around 340-350 @ the wheels.(just guessing)
The 3sgte, with it's iron block and it's stock internals are good to 400rwhp.
Of course, forged internals are always better.
Wiseco, JEPistons,Eagle all make great products-$700.00-$800.00

You'll need a bigger turbo. A GT28, GT30 or TD06 to hit those numbers..$$1,100.00
Upgraded IC , piping, couiplers andT-clamps-$400.00-$800.00
If you're gonna rev past Redline, or use higher lift cams,-$600.00-$700.00
you will need to upgrade the valvetrain.
Adjustable Cam gears-$200.00
For my head rebuild/upgrade, I went with the shimless lifters from the MR2Spyder 1ZZ engine.-$192.00
Brian Crower springs,titanium retainers,$250.00
Ferrea SS Valves-$225.00
550cc (or bigger) injectors-$400.00( certain yr. Supra injectors are plug and play using stock fuel rail)
Higher capacity fuel pump-Walbro 255lph is pretty popular-$100.00

Downpipe-$275.00
Upgrade the exhaust-$600.00-$700.00
Boost controller of some type
Anything beyond 280rwhp is gonna require some type of engine management. Like MegaSquirt, Hydra Nemesis, etc. A tuned ROM might get you there.
Upgraded clutch. The stock 3sgte clutch is only good to 280hp=$400.00-$500.00

Great information guys..... This is a Great starting point. Time to get the shopping list together.

Next question. Looking at a staggered set of rims and tires. Any one have the right set up with regards to offset front vs rear. Looking at 17" rims.

it all depends on width. You can go a slightly lower offset than some celicas can (myself included). I have a narrowbody, while the GTS and alltrac are widebody. probably best bet is around +30 offset maybe a little less for the rear.

Rebuild the trans while its out and replace the Syncos with updated ones found in the 92-93 alltrac. Or you could try finding a 94+ GT-Four trans. It's not that hard to push those numbers on the 3S-GTE it's all about money and time. If your doing most of the work yourself then you might want to increase your budget just a tad bit, unless your looking at getting used parts. I recommend getting it new to help eliminate any issues your might have after the build.
