Anyone know of someone parting out a GEN5 convertible?
I am looking for some very small convertible specific items to finish off my restoration.
For the driver door belt moulding (the black trim the goes across the top of the door, outside of the glass, full length of the door), I am looking for the rubber caps (one on each end) of this moulding.
The passenger door belt moulding has its caps on. The drivers side did too, until the restoration work. Somehow those small caps disappeared. And this door belt moulding strip is unique to convertibles (it is a bit wider than on coupes and hatchbacks).
If anyone knows someone parting out a GEN5 convertible, or knows of one in a salvage yard, let me know.
Don't want/need the entire door belt moulding strip (the ones I have, along with all the exterior trim, was all painted up nicely), just need the rubber caps on both ends of that door belt moulding strip. Let me know what you find, and how much I owe you if you do find them and would be willing to send them my way!
ok man. Last time I was there there was only a coupe but occasionlly a convertible pops up, if I find them I'll gladly pack them up and ship them your way
A yard that I frequent has several 90-91 Celicas, coupes & hatchbacks. No GTS's or convertibles right now. And no 92-93 Celicas for some reason. But if you ever need anything that you can't find, and that is shipable, let me know - perhaps I can return the favor.
Ok, well I didn't make it out there today, when I went outside I found an oil spot beneath my car. I had the timing belt, water pump, cam/crank seals replaced right before the big blizzard we got, oil started leaking badly about 3 weeks after from behind the timing cover, the shop screwed around with me and held my car a week before even starting to redo their job. I might add that I told them to replace the oil pump and oil pump seal the first time around, they didn't, they didn't the second time either only the oil pump seal. Today, two days after getting it back, found 3 fresh oil spots in the last three places I parked, not to mention the car just didn't feel right. The idle floated a little more than it used to and felt like it was missing once it warmed up, the engine no longer sounded the same and didn't feel like it had the same power, I think they had my cam timing off by a tooth as well. So the car is back there again. Sorry, for the rant, but I'm irritated and need an outlet lol.
It's situations like you are going through that have kept me away from auto mechanics and delearship service centers. I typically do all that kind of stuff on my own. But I've typically always had another car available, so getting it done quickly was never that much of an issue. Only time I really didn't do my own work was with my Passat's timing belt change. Not that the mechanic did anything wrong, but within 30,000 miles, I had a junk engine because of it.
yeah, I do everything myself as well, but I figured if everything went well I'd probably have my car apart for two days and the local forcast called for 30+ inches of snow in about 3 days, so I just figured that since I dont not have a garage, screw it. Since I work with shops all day, they offered me a good deal, which they ended up backing out of...
