How do you remove an input shaft seal?

How should one go about removing an input shaft seal for a 1992 Celica ST manual tranny? I could not get a screwdriver in it to pry it out. Any help would be awesome.

You should be able to push a screwdriver blade into the rubber seal, then pry against the steel housing of the seal. You will need to pry in several locations around the inside perimeter of the seal housing. Eventually, the seal housing will start coming out. Just keep working your way around the seal with your screwdriver blade. Don't worry about damaging the rubber seal with the screwdriver, you won't be using the seal again anyway (you must replace a seal when attempting to remove it).
