do you guys know if the 1990-1993 celica gts speedometer cluster will bolt on right in the GT models to work properly? the GTS has a volt battery reader which the GT doesn't, in which i'm wondering if it has seperate wires for it or something...
I would like to know the same thing. I looked at a 93 shop manual, and the volt meter has no special wiring inputs, so from my opinion, that part should work.
Your GT has a 0 - 120 MPH speedometer, and I'm pretty sure the GTS has a 0-180 MPH speedometer, so I wonder if the speed display would work.
I've seen a few 5th GEN GTS's out in the salvage yard with this instrument cluster, but I never went after it primarily because I wasn't sure if the speedometer would read accurately.

which junkyard did you see it in WI?.. reason i want the GTS is because of the volt battery meter but other then that the RPM on the right side is kill since i'm tall and can't see, if only i duck down a little bit on the steering wheel. i was planning on getting a GT4 speedometer off ebay but i don't want to deal with that KM/H
I know there is a 91 GTS out there now, but it was pretty gutted that last time I saw it, and I remember once seeing the instrument cluster partially removed, and the clear plastic lens was broken apart on it. I don't know if it is still there now or not, I was thinking about it when I saw it still in the car prior to someone taking it out and at least breaking the lens, not sure what the gauges look like now with the lens broken.

maybe i'll call and check. i don't want to drive from milwaukee to there for nothing.
I don't know if Gibson's pulls small parts like that or not. They might. Usually people just go out in the yard and pick their own parts.
Also, I may have been wrong on the GTS speed range. I checked on another forum, and it appears the GTS speed range is 0-150 MPH. But they said it should work just fine with no mods.

i like junkyards where they allow you to go right in and pull your own parts. yeah gts are 0-150 while the gt is 0-120. i wonder how much this thing cost at a local dealer?.. probably 500bucks
You can check "car-part.com". They show several available in Wisconsin (1 at Ace Auto Salvage for $75, and 1 at Roz Auto Salvage, price not indicated). Both of these are in Milwaukee. Eight total in Wisconsin, most for under $75. Maybe this helps?

i'll check ace tomorrow although they are asses. same goes for roz.
Well, I know I haven't tried it. But there are members of the CelicaTech forum who have done the very same thing you are considering (putting a GTS instrument cluster in a GT), and several of them said it was a plug and play, no problem. So I don't know what else I can say to you. You can check the CelicaTech forum as well. No one said anything about and modifications or issues with how it works - they all said the instruments all functioned normally after the replacement.

going to go there and get it in a few mins and i'll post the picture and results
i got the part but how to take the whole thing apart to put in the new one is a guess.. let's see. i removed the big plastic panel below the steering wheel, i remove the two piece around the steering, i unscrew everything on the climate control. wow! i wonder how i get this thing to come off?... don't want to force it either...
