Timing Belt 97 celica

Just bought a 97 celica and just wondering how bad the timing belt is to change? i also have the change the oil pan gasket which shouldnt be to bad i dont think.

oil pan is easy, just remove the bolts and drop the pan. but the timing belt is another story. if you are not mechanically inclined don't try it. mechanic would a safer option. but if you are confident go for it. good luck!!

Im pretty decent with cars, i helped do a timing belt on like an old mistubishi, just wondering if anyone had like a step by step or even just some pointers would help. thanks

Interference motor?

Is the 2.2l in my 1997 celica an interference or not interference motor? If it is a non interference motor then if the timing belt breaks it wont hurt the motor right?

i know the 3sfe motor is a non-interference engine and your engine (5sfe) is very similar to 3SFE so i assume its a non-interference engine. no damage will happen on non-interference engines in a timing belt snap.
